Guard the Glory God Has Given You

Have you ever met someone who seemed different after spending time around certain people? They no longer carried the same confidence, the same joy, the same passion, or even the same sense of identity. It was as though the light they once carried had slowly begun to fade.

As I prayed about this, the Lord impressed something upon my heart.

The enemy is after the glory God has placed on your life.

When we hear the word glory, we often think of fame or recognition. But biblically, glory is much deeper than that. It is the unique expression of God’s grace upon your life. It is His beauty reflected through your personality, your gifts, your calling, your joy, your compassion, your testimony, and the life of Christ being formed within you.

Every person was created uniquely by God. There is no one else who carries His glory quite like you do. The way you love, the way you encourage, the gifts He has entrusted to you, and the purpose He has called you to fulfill are all part of the glory He has placed upon your life.

This is why the enemy fights so fiercely against your identity.

Jesus said, “The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.” (John 10:10 KJV)

The enemy cannot create glory, so he seeks to distort it, suppress it, or convince you to surrender it.

Sometimes he works through fear.

Sometimes through offense.

Sometimes through comparison.

Sometimes through disappointment.

Sometimes through unhealthy relationships that slowly drain your strength and cause you to question who God has called you to be.

The battle is deeper than most people realize.

The Bible reminds us, “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.” (Ephesians 6:12 KJV)

Our battle is not ultimately against people. People may hurt us, betray us, reject us, or speak against us, but behind many of life’s greatest battles is a spiritual enemy who desires to silence the work of God in our lives.

The enemy knows he cannot stop God’s plan, so he seeks to diminish the expression of God’s glory within you.

He wants your joy replaced with heaviness.

Your confidence replaced with insecurity.

Your compassion replaced with bitterness.

Your boldness replaced with fear.

Your worship replaced with weariness.

Your peace replaced with anxiety.

He cannot steal your salvation, but he will do everything he can to keep you from walking in the fullness of it.

This is why discernment matters.

Not every relationship is meant to have access to your heart.

Not every voice deserves influence over your life.

Not every environment will nurture what God is growing within you.

The Apostle Paul warned,

“Be not deceived: evil communications corrupt good manners.” (1 Corinthians 15:33 KJV)

Who you continually allow to influence you will eventually shape the person you become.

Scripture gives us the example of Samson. His strength was connected to his covenant with God. Through compromise, he lost what distinguished him, and his enemies captured him (Judges 16). His story reminds us that what God has entrusted to us must be guarded with wisdom.

Yet even if you feel like you’ve lost something along the way, God is still a God of restoration.

David prayed, “Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit.” (Psalm 51:12 KJV)

God restored David’s joy.

He can restore yours.

If you have lost your confidence, He can restore it.

If you have lost your passion, He can restore it.

If you have lost your peace, He can restore it.

If you have lost your spiritual fire, He can restore it.

The enemy may have tried to diminish the light you carry, but he cannot extinguish what God has ordained unless you surrender it.

Do not surrender your joy.

Do not surrender your peace.

Do not surrender your compassion.

Do not surrender your confidence.

Do not surrender your worship.

Do not surrender your identity.

Guard your heart, for “out of it are the issues of life” (Proverbs 4:23 KJV).

Guard your mind.

Guard your relationships.

Guard your intimacy with God.

Guard the glory He has entrusted to your life.

The world does not need another imitation.

It needs the unique reflection of Jesus Christ that only you can reveal.

“Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the LORD is risen upon thee.” (Isaiah 60:1 KJV)

Rise again.

Shine again.

And never allow the enemy to diminish the light God has placed within you.
